There are a few online “magazines” that really deserve a shout and sign up – much like ourselves! One of my recent discoveries is http://www.ClassicDriver.com that shares with us a similar taste. Always compelling but today’s edition is, personally, a little more evocative.
Please see here James Bannister’s piece for Classic Driver’s announcing the meeting of always stunning Concorde and ever elegant Aston Martin DB4 at the historic Brooklands (Weybridge, Surrey), motor racing’s first venue. Concorde and DB4 meet at Brooklands
Not only have we benefitted from Dom Baker’s excellent piece on Concorde – please see here – Concorde by Dominic Baker and we have written about Aston Martin’s DB4 and DB5 – please see here – Aston Martin DB4/DB5 but my father, an ex-Shell Oil man, was one of the first Trustees at Brooklands. His efforts and passion for the historic track, following his early demise in 1991, are memorialised by a plaque in the Museum.
Please also note the original Shell glass globes on the classic pumps at Brooklands.
Oh and I passed my driving test in Weybridge!
